As the subject line says: This is about putting a fire extinguisher into the X-Type.
My other X-Type (2.1L) had some space on top of the CD-changer in the boot behind the wall-carpet, where I mounted the bracket for the fire extinguisher.
But when I wanted to do the same on my 2.5L X-Type, I noticed that the wall-carpet does not have that kind of space, as there was no CD-changer.
Hence, I had to come up with another idea, and this idea is way better:
I found just the right amount of space right in front of the passenger seat. That seal is half-manual (the forward and backward shifting of the seat is done manually):


That's the bracket mounted onto that very solid metal X-bar. It was quite tough to drill into. I removed the seat (after pulling the airbag-fuse (just in case)) to get better access.


And that's the fire extinguisher mounted in the bracket. In this position the extinguisher is not in the way (for the passenger's feet), it is hardly visible, yet very easy and quickly accessible.

Here in Australia it is not a legal requirement to have a fire-extinguisher on board, yet I reckon it is a pretty good thing to have one anyway... - and not just in a XJS V12...
