Do cheap Fan Control Modules work (2004+ models)......?
#21
A friend of mine had the fan controller fail on his 07. At the time, the only replacement available other than a complete fan assembly from the dealer was from Welsh. I bought it and it worked, but the problem is the the fan surround is some sort of plastic/fiberglass composite and the captive nut the bolt goes into that holds the module to the fan shroud is held only by this composite. While attempting to undo the bolt holding the module, the captive nut broke out of the surround, leaving me with no way to attach the new module to the surround.
I ended up doing a workaround with zip ties around the module to get him home, but the module clearly isn't designed to be replaced individually. So be very careful removing the bolt if you suspect there is the slightest bit of corrosion on it. The car I was working on was a pristine car, 45,000 miles and never winter driven, yet there was enough corrosion to grab the bolt.

Let me offer some guidance here.
1. once the humorous video clips start appearing, it's a clear sign a thread is on a downward spiral.
2. when any member is annoyed by the contributions of another member, the simplest solution is either to ignore them or not to respond
3. if a member continues to make facile posts getting increasingly off topic and with no other objective than to be annoying, then a rapid change of attitude is required
I've given one member a 7 Day Ban but left the thread open as it still has the opportunity to be useful.

Did you precisely look at WHO posted humorous video clips and started breaking the thread (unobjective and out to quarrel)?
Months have passed.
I have suppressed your pissing off.
In the meantime you should have done your experiments...
How are your results?
