James, drive the car for about 10 minutes. That is all it takes. The computer needs to see the car turn a finite number of engine RPMs (10,000 seems to ring a bell). As part of this, it also needs to be able to lock up the torque converter and release it a few times too. So, leaving where you live, a mile or so to the highway and then a few miles on the highway is all you need. If you are loosing the P1111 code (the "all systems good" code) when you turn the car off, then you have a problem with the switchable power supply to your ECM. But, that is a different issue that we can deal with.
