Drive Shaft Replaced - Still making whirring noise
Gang,
I just had my Drive Shaft replaced (brand new) under warranty because I was hearing a noise that sounded like a helicopter taking off.
Well I just got my X back, and although its about 50% quieter, I can still hear the noise...especially at slower speeds when coming to a rolling stop.
My mechanic thought it might be my Transfer Case - he said he looked inside and my lube was dark...
Would a TC that is going bad make the same/similar noise as a Drift Shaft that was going bad?

It'll make a noise, when I changed my TC fluid it was really dark but I wasn't really hearing any noises. After it was replaced with the proper synthetic stuff for about 3 days I'd get a whine when decelerating at 20KM and below. Then it went away. But regardless you need to change the TC fluid, I'm lazy so I took it in and was charged like 70.00 for the job.
