Default Ebay Performance Chip For Jags!!

Hello, I am new to Jaguar forums and I really like it!! I recently found this item on ebay and I was wondering if anyone else had seen it before, or maybe even bought it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JAGUA...mZ310002706782
I also just got a 6K HID kit but I have been discouraged to install it so I have been postponing it, it sounds really complicated, but I know this subject has been talked about a lot of times so I won't go there.

Thanks for the help!!

So I feel really dumb right now because I had spelled performance wrong before and that's why I couldn't find any topics about it.
Never mind then, not worth spending money.

That chip is worthless... It is a dressed up form of a simple mod known as the IAT mod. Basically, it places a resistor into the IAT sensor line that throws off the intake air temperature reading to read colder than it actually is. This makes the car's computer think that the temp is cooler outside and compensates for it by introducing extra fuel into the system. It does equate to a few horsepower and has actually been track proven to work, however you are risking alot by doing it. Your air/fuel ratio is set the way it is for a reason, and this causes you to run rich which screws stuff up.

If you would like to try it regardless, don't spend the $25 + shipping on the "chip." A simple resistor bought at radio shack for 50 cents will do the same thing.

My recommendation: Don't do it.

Ebay chips for our cars = NO

Don't be discouraged about installing the HID kit. Many of us here have done it, including myself. It's a relatively straight forward install. If you have any questions, just post and i'm sure one of us here can help.

Welcome to the forums!

Forget the chip.I asked Jags Tech Advisor Paul Grantham about them at an X Type seminar last Spring and he says to steer clear of them.Even ifdid fool Jags temp sensorsthere are more safety measures to counter this in the Jags engine management electronics so its a waste of money.

So i "started" doing the installation yesterday with my dad(wewerejust trying to see how it would be) and it wasn't complicated at all!! The only thing that threw me off were the brown and yellow cables. Am I supposed to cut the ends of the orginal ones?
By the way my dad has the "exact" same jag as mine except his is automatic (and his has a cd player and mine doesn't).[sm=smiley17.gif]
