ECU swap

ECU swap
Good morning fellow Xrype affectionados. I am considering swapping out the ECU in my 03 3.0L Xtype because I have had serious issues with the Gearbox Fault problem at times (usually when raining) and I have seen the ECU harness practically under water after a hard rain. I also have water coming in my heater blower so I know what the problem is and will have to address that also. My question is.... My xtype has the D***** VIN and from what I know, there are many changes during that period, and I don't want to have to reprogram it. So what ECU VIN range will work without reprogramming? I can get my exact VIN, and then we will know if it is prior to or after the cutoff point where the changes and upgrades occurred.

JagV8... My driver's door control unit hasn't worked in years anyway. I'm hoping to not be immobilized, or hope to be able to reprogram my key fob to start the car, other than that it's irrelevant to me. If it's all too much of a hassle, I will try to avoid any more water igress issues and not swap out the ECU at all. But at this point, it's close to becoming an experimental lawn ornament anyway. I have a misfire at cyl 3, so I'm putting in all new Delphi coils in bank 2 (firewall, or right-hand side) and Denso iradium plugs, that will cover any more removing of the plenum, and if it continues to misfire I will hard reset the ECU, and if THAT fails, I'm going to start to suspect I have the dreaded cam lobe wear that has caused my valve to burn up. I'm not ever taking a 03 Xrype to a Jag dealership and most other foreign auto shops won't want to take it in as it's a Jag, lol. So I'm hoping that when I ran it on a dead battery and it was misfiring and backfiring, that I just fouled the plug or killed the coil, and I had a blown fuse to the coils, which I replaced and got it to actually run again. But it's still misfiring a bit. So I will update this week after the parts arrive. No need to test the coil and plug (but I will) since I'm committed to changing all 3 ofthe right-hand side coils and plugs.
