Default EGR and/or VVT system monitor = Incomplete..

So, this issue has been present for a long time on my 2010 2.2D automatic.
I get a check engine light after ~3 drive cycles, and no error codes.
According to my iCarsoft LRII scanner, the issue seems to be that the readiness monitor for the EGR isn't completing (P1000), and it never goes to P1111. The Comprehensive Component Monitor test comes out as OK but the EGR monitor is always INC (I assume it's "incomplete").

The car runs fine, and I changed the EGR a few months ago because it died, but that didn't sort the issue. I attached a snapshot of the I/M Readiness screen below, and a snapshot of some of the values while the car was running, MAF, MAP, RPM, and these are fairly typical values that I get when the car is running. I assume they're quite normal because the car is not idling badly or anything (except for a minute or two when it's cold).

Anybody got any ideas of how to narrow down the issue any further? (I get no errors anywhere else)
It's annoying having a check engine light constantly on in the car, and constantly having to clear the errors to get rid of it, plus the fact that I no longer pay much attention to it and so if there was another problem I wouldn't know about it.

I often run the car for several weeks with the check engine light on, to see if the P1000 would clear, but it never does. It seems like the car flags the EGR readiness as incomplete, but doesn't tell me why.

Does anyone know exactly how the EGR readiness monitor works?
What exactly it checks? Airfow, temps, pressure, EGR valve open/close check, etc?

I don't have the Diesel version but perhaps this info might assist you.

Here is an exerpt from the above resource pertaining to the EGR monitor drive cycle. I am not sure if this procedure is for petrol and diesel, but it is all I can initially find.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Monitor Drive Cycle
Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature > 82 °C (180 °F).
Drive the vehicle in 3rd gear at 2500 rpm.
Maintain a steady speed for 1 minute, then lift foot completely off accelerator and coast for a minimum of 10 seconds.
