Emotional connection with the Jaguar brand.
It's hard not to get emotional when I think about owning a Jaguar. To me, it would be more than just a car. I know you aren't supposed to buy based on emotions... let me explain. I remember being maybe 9 years old in the late 80's... I turned the channel to MTV... I'll never forget that moment. Ever. I saw a Whitesnake music video that had Tawny Kitaen writhing around on the hood of a Jaguar. At that moment I felt something I had never really fealt before and I didn't know what it was, but I liked it.
Nearly 20 years later I can still remember that moment. I wanted to become a rockstar... unfortunatley, I have no musical talent.
In any general psychology course they teach you about conditioning, and this is a perfect example from my own life.

LOL! It's a lot more affordable now isn't it? Hopefully your dream of owning a Jag will remain a dream and not a nightmare. It all depends on you though. Our cars SCREAM when they have problems so don't worry about HIDDEN little things when buying, just make sure to care for her, because this car requires love. If you're going to beat on it like a bitch, get a Honda! f

I have an emotional connection to this brand as well. When I was about 9 years old, one of my uncles clients was a dentist that had a red drop top XJS v12. He took me for a ride and I still remember that V12 sing to this day. From that moment on...I was hell bent on getting a jaguar. Granted my X-type is a far cry from the majesty that was a brand new XJS back in 1991, its my first step. God ( and career) willing, i will have the new XF in a few years as well. Preach on Bowersst!!!

I grew up in London in the 1990s even tho i was born and live now in chicago. But living in england as a child, everybody considered jaguars the quintesential car to own, so they have always been special to me. Plus they have a jag plant on Browns lane, and my last name is Brown. lol.
Kinda like i'm connected to Aston Martin cuz haev the models share my first AND last name

I never wanted a Jag, I knew they were pieces of ****..... I did fall for the X type because of the awd, the rear torque bias, the viscous coupling limited slip centre diff. that with a manual transmission and sport package without all the girly chrom and I started to look for one.
Then I found a car that had evey conceivable option on it for a decent price
I a still fighting a few rattles after throwing a few grand into suspensionbits and not sure what to do next. The customer service and dealer network are absolute ******.... I have never been told no so many times in my life, maybe I was spoiled but they have almost driven me to tears several times on the phone.
I cant believe how they will not come clean on their issues.
I have defective parts and shoddy repairs that they flatly refuse to deal with.
The brakes are crappy compared to any other european car, but the car does work well in the snow.
Just be aware of all this and make sure you have lots of spare cash to throw at the jag....

I wonder what kind of luck i've had, because i've had my x for 18 months, and have no rattles, shakes, breakdowns, overheating, my windshield vents are solidly in place, absolutly no real qualms with the car...and i have an 03. Not all x-types are bad, or maybe some owners are just **** and spoiled that feel compelled to complain about the slightest imperfection. But i agree the dealers are real thieves and ******, and i've never once had a pleasant experience with them.

That sucks somekidz with the dealer! They seem cool by me but I've never actually had warranty work done...the jag dealer I was looking at cars at sent me a christmas card but I guess if I would have bought the car from him and already had a car they might treat you as all of the dealers everyone speaks on here about!
