I have a 96 XJ6 VP. Wife was driving home yesterday cruising at 70 mph and she said it felt like the car shifted down to a lower gear. Engine was losing power and would not get above 20 mph. She shifted lanes to get out of the way of other cars and then it regained power and was OK rest of way home? I have also noticed a few hesitations in power at mid range speeds. All fluids are at proper level. Tune up performed recently. I was thinking fuel fliter, pump, sensors? Any suggestions would be a appreciated.

Any engine codes? Sounds like the fuel-pump may be crapping out.
I'm not sure if this is a great test or not, but when my fuel pump crapped out (different vehicle), when making sweeping turns the fuel pressure would really struggle and the car would start hesitating. At one point it just totally shut off.
Start at the basics; fuel, spark or air and go from there. Still, if you're getting an engine code, check it out for sure.

Your best bet would be posting this in the xj6 section shown here. They would probably be able to help you a bit more than us x-type guys. Hopefully you get it sorted asap! You might also ask the wifey if she used premium fuel on the last fill up? (I'm not sure if the older jags require premium or not but I bet they did!)
