Engine Performance Chip

I received an unsolicited email from G Force for a performance chip for my X guarantees 60HP, 47MPG and a bunch of other stuff for $69.00. As soon as I saw the price I grew suspicious, or course I am not going to buy it as I have read most of these chips are rip offs. But one thing it said was it connects by two wires to the IAT sensor. I have never heard of this sensor, can someone enlighten me. Thank U.
Changing subjects I found out what that banging noise is in the rear of my car. It is the Ebrake cable, I pushed the car up and down and that took a lot of strength as the rear end is very tight. I always liked a tight rear end, but that is a different story, anyhow, my mechanic, could hear it hitting against the car, brakes housing I assume. I also mentioned to him the tube the cable goes thru has to be Lube, hey that is Lueb spelled wrong. Am I correct in assuming this? It is only on the passenger side, but I asked him to grease and adjust the handbrake as it is pretty high up when applied. Just in case the other side starts to loosen up, if that is why it is banging. Hey the K Mart ad is blocking the icons for smiles and such, in case no one has noticed.

I am glad everyone agrees with me that these chips are a rip off. However, back in the 90's when I owned a BMW Z3 I had it chipped, CAI and Free Flow exhaust, re-flashed computer all made by Dinan, BMW's only approved aftermarket tuner. Cost quite a few dollars, but what a increase in performance, knocked off 2 seconds on the 0 to 60 time alone and I also got better gas mileage. Wish I still had that car, but with my back the way it is I couldn't drive it now.
