Engine Shudders - P0251 - Commond Problem?
Hi people,
Having a nightmare which has led me to the internet in search of an answer and will be extremely happy if someone can help me!
54 plate Jaguag X-type 2.0 SE Diesel - When I push past 2500/3000 revs the car seems to shutdown and all the lights on the dash light up (engine management, traction, coil etc) , the car will still accelerate but if I try to go over 3000 I get sharp shudders, a sort of pulling back feeling - From my reading I understand this is LIMP mode which protects the engine.
Done a diagnostic scans with launch and came out with the fault code P0500 & P0251.
Under advice from a 'mechanic' I changed both the Cam shaft sensor and Crank shaft sensor, which solved NOTHING
I will today attempt to put a full tank of diesel in to see if the pressure changes, I really don't know what else to do and will report back any findings...
Any ideas ?

Shudders from Holland
Hi there,
I had the same problem about two years ago. Every time I hit 2.500 rpm my engine would shudder. Only carefully throttle-coaxing it would get me past 3.000 revs.
My 3.0 X-type was already on 100k miles then, and after a bit of reading on differents forums I fully expected the coils to be the problem. Very expensive fix.
Fortunately the dealer found a blocked hose (normally allowing the engine-casing to breathe?).
I'm from Holland, so I don't know the English technical terms - but we call it a "carter" -.
Hope this helps, kind regards
