Is this engine "tick" normal (video)
#21
I stand by my original comment. Two wrongs dont make a right.
The x-type engine should be very quiet compared to most cars. If it is ticking, there is something wrong. Dont lull yourself into comfort because others are ignorring their problems.
I happen to agree that a staticy video of a different car with the engine hood closed is a totally ridiculous attempt at problem solving.
This jaggy forum likes to be all huggy kissy about everything. That does not make it any less of a poor attempt to get the problem evaluated. I cannot see the moving parts, I cannot hear the direction the noise is coming from - it only comes from my computer speakers. at the very least, if you are not familiar with the sound, post a sound file of YOUR car. I say the least, because there is no way that we can be accurate with listening to computer speakers. We can give very broad speculations at best. Find an experienced car guy, who know the proper sound of THIS engine. and get him/her to listen. Better yet, go to a dealer, and ask the used car guy to start up a car on their lot and listen to it and yours side by side.
Although we have the ability to add audio and video to posts, it is primarily a written forum. You need to be EXCELLENT at writing to get Excellent trouble shooting advice.
