Default Engineering Test Mode Codes

Where can I find a list (pdf) of these codes and what they mean and how to correct them?

I used the search function. Just wants me to subscript to another website that will sell a manual that doesn't do anything.

Evidently no one knows where to find the Engineering Test Mode codes for an S-type 2006 Jaguar. What a waste of codes.

People have posted (thus Search) but the codes have typically been there 5-10 years without being relevant so you should ignore them. (I wish I had - I wasted quite a bit of effort and time understanding them.)

If you want to look at actual, meaningful, codes, get a suitable diagnostic device such as IDS/SDD.

Then, before you use it, find out why not to clear any codes. (Search is great.)

Or dive right in and maybe regret big time. Big time.

The search brings up URLs that have been discontinued. I can look at the codes using the Engineering Test Mode. I want to know what they mean. For example: What do these codes mean? E518, D900, A879, 9318, 9600, A883, E200, E197, 9246, and E521?

Some info obtained in ETM can be useful but mostly the IDS/SDD is better at diagnostics.

Here is some info you might find useful?

Sorry, but I already had that document and it doesn't address the codes I'm getting. Oh, well.

"already used search" = HORSE CRAP
And why S type when this is X type (x400) forum?

Search really is a good tool... post #37 https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...s-34378/page2/

but on my car the DTCs revealed are up to 15 years old - yours will be similar - and are not cleared without great effort...

Oh, I see! You know what I've done and what I haven't done!!!!!!!

Your response shows exactly what kind of person and help you are. Wonderful ambassador to Jaguar.

Why S-type? Because I couldn't find an S-Type forum, but the codes should all be the same, but obviously NOT.

I already have all the articles you still try to reference.

Someone needs to remove you from the forum, with your attitude.

I'm gone. I can't believe you are representative of Jaguar and its forums.

Have a nice day!

You seem to be quite the "Jaguar ambassador" yourself.

Why all the hostility? People have tried to help you in good faith. I have no idea what you mean about the links taking you to broken URLs or to some website trying to get you to subscribe to something. The links guys put up here list the best information they know to get you what you are looking for and you don't seem happy with it. If you were a great Jaguar ambassador maybe really dig into this yourself and if/when you find the answer post back here.

Gentlemen;

With all due respect, I post in the XJS forum and sometimes the E type forum, and we do not constantly and relentlessly guide everyone to use the “search tool” all the time and treat them like fools if they don’t......If I know the solution to a problem someone else posts I can typically reply to that person and engage in a conversation. This is an interactive forum. Participation and movement between members are what keep it alive. If people prefer to just have an archival database, then I suppose it can be shut-down and we can use it like Wikipedia..... I do not understand what pains anyone so greatly about responding to a simple question. If you are already taking the time to make someone feel like a fool for not using “search”, then surely you can take the time to answer their question. All this berating and admonishing is more becoming of a Honda Civic forum.

@David.rowley =

Sorry Spike, I do not "suffer fools lightly" as the Brits put it, lol. It seems (imo) that gen x, gen y and millennials are bereft of non instant gratification. "Gimmee, tell me, fix it" mentality without any desire, inclination or ability to do any research on their own. Constantly reposting information READILY available in this forum seems counter productive to me at least. Nearly every problem that can or has happened to our cars has been discussed ad nauseam. Take as an example the "blank nav screen" posting with over 150,000+ posts before it was locked with the DEFINITIVE EXPLANATION AND ANSWER there on the last page as well as throughout the thread.

Although when a new problem arises, like the recent "oil was in my ECU" posting, it does perk up the antenna!! :-):-):-)

I'll have a beer now and chill out.

Dell, I was not directing this at you. Also, I am a millennial, “first batch millennial”, but still.... We are not all the same, but I do understand your point. I often rail against what I perceive to be the boomer foolishness that has created the current state of affairs in the world, and the boomers that decided to apparently reject everything handed down to them in favor of a regime of non-stop novelty. But I digress. ....

My point was that we do need new membership and interacting with others is important for the forum to stay alive.
