RE: EXT temp gauge

Yes, it registers negative F degrees...I've seen it. Why? Because I live somewhere where it can get to minus 40 (which is the same in C or F) Recently it was minus 30C and I switched over to Farenheit where it only read -22F which made me feel waaaaaay better. In case anyone is wondering X-Types will handle those temperatures. Ah, if only Bo was here...he'd back me. He's getting the frigid temps this week and I'm getting +9C which is about 48F.
Last thing...If you are driving through slush that freezes solidly to the front of your car, your exterior temp display will not really read the outside temp. Duh! Came through a snow storm and the outside temp was +2C to start and about -15C by the time we got home. Display showed an exterior temp of +2 to -6 and then climbed steadily to +22C. Kept us amused as we motored along without a worry in our sure footed kitty.

Yes it does go to minus. I've seen it many times. We've been below 0 several times in the last week here in Nebraska. It was only about 8 degrees for a high yesterday which is what it is right now. It was -12 a couple of nights back.
I got a laugh the other night. We have a weather station here in the house that has a wireless remote outdoor temp and as the temp was dropping it got to 0 and then we got a real quick heat wave, the reading went to 99.9. I guess this instrument doesn't have a minus in it. It did indicate the temp was still dropping because it got down to 97.3. This is the first time I seen it do this, I just never paid attention to it before, this time I was looking at it when it happened.

RE: EXT temp gauge
It was minus 8 when I left the house this morning. As others have said, the X will display a negative temp reading. I try not to look at it. At this point in the winter, the "Low temp" message on the IP has me ready to smack it with a hammer, since it is ever -present.
X has handled the snow and ice with usual tank-like behavior. No starting problems. Did get a quick bout of propshaft whine the other day, but only lasted for a few hundred feet. Temp was near zero. Hasn't come back, thankfully.
