Exterior Mirror loose
#2
If you post some further details it may make it easier for other X-Type owners to help:
1. is it a Power Fold or not?
2. is the whole mirror loose on the door or is it the mirror head that is loose?
The mirror is attached to the door with a single nut:
If it's the mirror head that is loose, you will need to remove the mirror glass and possibly the cover to access the fixing. How this is done depends on whether you have Power Fold or not.

To get to the Mirror pivot, you will have to remove the Mirror Glass (item 3), probably the Mirror Motor (item 4) and possibly the Mirror Back (item 2):
You don't have sufficient posts to be able to download PDF's from the forum server so here's links to the files on my MediaFire account:
1, Mirror Glass
X Type - Exterior Mirror Glass.pdf
2. Mirror Motor
X Type - Exterior Mirror Motor.pdf
3. Mirror Back
X Type - Exterior Mirror Cover.pdf
This will allow you to view and hopefully tighten the pivot if that is the only problem.
If the mirror head is broken inside, it appears from the Parts Manual that the whole assembly has to be replaced.
