Extra Foam Padding in Rear Seat

Hi everyone. (I think this is my first, official self post!) I removed the bottom rear seat cushion (of my X-Type). I found some very sticky, brown substance that I removed then cleaned the area. I am guessing that this is not factory original. The stuff is on my foam as well and stilll sticky. I am thinking of getting some additional foam to put under the seat--for more insulation against noise and to build up the seat. Also it will help keep the sticky stuff off of the metal floor. Ideas? Thanks!

To remove the sticky stuff, get your hands on a big bottle of Simple Green. Easy to come by and seems to do a pretty good job without killing your sinuses. As for the extra foam, stop by a local carpeting place and see what you can get there. Most of the padding is going to be about 1/2" thick and if you want more, simply add another layer on top of the previous layer. Then you can make it as thick as you want and it will help with some sound deadening.
