Default RE: Fogging Windshield When Started?

Our X-Type had similar problem, and also the windshield fogged when driving in moist weather, and needed to put the "DEF" -mode or windshield heater ON to get the fog away. The fog on startup came only at moist weather, but it went away quite quickly after that. When driving in rain or heavy fog, it fogged the windshield.

The X visited normal service, and I told them to change the cabin filter. After getting the car from service, fogging windscreen -problem was away. Asked from the service guy about the cabin filter, and he told me that it had leaves, debris and filter was a bit dirty.

A bit off topic, but I previusly owned Rover 400, without A/C, and when driving in rainy weather windshield and front side windows got fogged. Problem was solved by renewing the cabin filter (wich was black from dirt and FULL of debris) and cleaning up heater motor fan-assembly from debree (that also was FULL of debris...).

The debris in car heating system is quite good absorbing moisture from the air...

OK, guys I suspect mine is the heater core. After about 5 miles windows start to fog. Here's the bad news, loosing coolant about a quart every hundred miles. I have no coolant odor in the car, no leaks when I park. May be the fluid is going out the condensate drain.

Well, I fixed the fuel pump on my powerjoke today so I'll have a parts rig.

Tomorrow I'll start digging around.

Any Ideas about how to get to the heater core?

Andy
