Footwell fuse box power

Hi all. In the footwell fuse box there's supposedly a rubber covered power connector, straight from the battery. I found other posts referencing it:
Jaguar x-type 2.0d silver 2004 | Unlimited Photo Storage
Does anyone know if this is really fed straight from the battery and if so, what the maximum draw is on it?
I want to power an Amateur Radio (HAM) and will be pulling a 20a. I'd rather not go through the bulkhead/firewall if I can help it.
Thanks.

UKSkidMark, yes, the passenger footwell fuse box is powered kinda off of the battery. If you look in the engine bay fuse box at fuse F39, it is a 150 amp fuse that powers the passenger footwell fuse box. But, the line is coming straight off of the battery feed going into the engine bay fuse box. So, it is not hardwired perse, but close enough. If you are only pulling 20 amps with the ham radio, you will be fine. There is enough extra room in the power calculations that you can run that size radio without needing to rewire anything. If you can, see if you can find a terminal to put into the fuse box so you can install a 30 amp fuse to power the radio from to leave you with a stock looking power setup.
Please keep in mind that this is based on a 2004.25MY+ car. If you have an early 2004 car or a 02-03 car, then you will have a different fuse number. Let me know and I will let you know what it is.

UKSkidMark, look in your fuse box. If you look at Fuse F65, you will find that it is blank (ie, no fuse in it). There was never a fuse designed to be put in there as part of any option for the car. But, what you will find is that there will be a post in there that you can get parts from a destroyed fuse box to slide in there and make it a new power source. That would be coming directly off of the battery. So, you would have power whenever you wanted it. This section of fuses gets power complements of Fuse F7 in the engine bay fuse box. That should have the room that you need to handle the ham radio. Getting at the fuse box may not be the easiest, but after doing the install, I think you are going to like the look as you shouldn't be able to tell that you added anything other than the radio sitting there next to the seat.
