Ford Taurus Alternator In X Type?

Not sure about the alternator, but it would not surprise me after I replaced my water pump with one that would fit a Taurus, and even though they didn't cross reference with one another and actually said it wouldn't work on the part store's computer, but it worked and fit just fine. I would just compare the pictured and specs the best you can and make a judgment call, unless of course someone can confirm/cancel this for you with past experience.
Actually though, after taking a quick look at the pictures for each, they do not look the same to me, but again, that was just a quick glance. Hopefully, another member can give you a for sure answer...

I agree they do look different especially the electrical connection, but that may be a non issue. But, if it does fit/work or you find another high output one that does, I would advise you to change and upgrade the alternator cable and ground straps to heavier ones. As factories install these to only handle barely above the OEM alternator amps (Kitties being 100/120 amps). A 400 amp one like you posted, although able to produce 400 amps, would only do so if aftermarket additions to your car required it to do so and the cables would nearly certainly overheat. Although any high output alternator is CAPABLE of higher amps, it still functions as all units do. If your car calls for 50 amps, it produces 50 amps. If it calls for 75 amps, it produces 75 amps. The only time a high output (like 250, 300, 400 amp) is needed or advisable is if you have added massive aftermarket amp draining components.
