Just a heads up to others owners out there if you are chasing a front end knock when going over bumps......it may not necessarily be your shocks or bushings.

Having sorted out the rear end sway bar bushings and the decomposed bump stops quite some time ago, I was dreading the job of changing our the front sway bushings and possibly noisy shocks etc.
When I removed my front wheels to start inspecting links and bushings I noticed the two piece splash guards that fill in the gap between the wheel arch to engine bay were missing some of their 5mm fasteners (previous owner or garage mechanic may have broken and discarded them).
These plastic guards are relatively small but actually very solid and if not retained properly will bounce down on the sub frame giving you healthy dull knock....like the sway bar bushings can.
In all I replaced about 4 fasteners in total and my front end knocking noises disappeared.

So if you have front end knocking noises, check these are secured correctly, it might just save you some unnecessary deep diving into your suspension.
