Fuel Filler Hose - unavailable, no longer manufactured
Hi all,
My 2002 3.0 X-Type, which has always been difficult to fill (other threads located about this) now decides that once the tank is full any more will be unceremoniously dumped onto the forecourt at the fuel station. I suspect the Fuel Filler Hose, between the end of the metal filler pipe and the tank, needs replacing. One of the clamps has some rust and the rubber looks to be deteriorating. I contacted the local Jaguar dealer and they tell me the part has been discontinued. I checked the SNG Barratt website and it gives the same reply. What can be done? Surely our beloved X-Types are not now relegated to garden ornament status because of a straight piece of rubber hose. VIN for mine is SAJAC51E12WC19251.
If that's all it is then the local auto parts store can probably fix you up in 5 minutes. Ask for "fuel tank filler hose" and tell them the length and diameter you need
Have a similar problem. Called SNG Barratt. They made a call to the UK. Said there was only 1 hose left in the UK.
Should be here in a few days.
Replaced the fuel pump motor a few years ago. Had nothing else to do in 2020. Suspect I damaged the original hose.
Don't recall.
After dropping the fuel tank, cut two 8" openings with a bi-metal hole saw. Why? There's no (expletive deleted) way I ever
will drop a fuel tank just to replace a fuel pump.
It's not my idea- S-Types have rubber access ports. Hard part was figuring out where to start. Actually, there's really nothing
easy about the job.
The hole saw made clean cuts. The two cut outs fit back in place were sealed with black POR-15 filler & seam sealer. Looks
like it came from the factory that way.
