Gearchange clunk
Hi All,
I have owned my 2.5 manual X type for around 6 weeks now and am really enjoying driving my first Jaguar although I do find there is often a slight clunk when changing up in a low gear which I must admit is very distrating. I returned the car to the dealer who after looking at my car said "Yes they all do that" a week later I went to another garage to get an independant opinion and a service where I was told the same thing and everything was just fine, (they noticed receipts in the car and said I had got a great car for the money which was nice) I have driven my fathers car in the past also a 2.5 X type and couldn't detect any noise when changing gear and remember being very impressed by how smooth his gearbox was.
Skippy.

Hi Guys what I am wondering here is do any other forum members with manual X types get the same clunk as it's driving me crazy? Although my last 3 cars were brand new I have owned my share of old bangers in my youth and I can honestly say this annoying clunk makes this the worst car I have ever driven to the point that it is only being used when a motorcycle can't cope with the wife and her shopping.
2 garages who have checked the car say this noise is normal with the all wheel drive set up, I have previously mentioned that I have driven another manual X type and couldn't detect this noise and actually loved the gear box it this car.
