Getting my transmission rebuilt
#2
I hear that the Jatco transmission is used in VWs and Nissans, so it the rebuild itself should be about the same price and relatively cheap. Make sure they know that you know that you don't have a special "Jag" tranny made of Connolly leather, wood, and gold.
Now, as for the amount of backbreaking labor to get it out and back in, well...that's where the price shoots up.

Been pricing them for the past month, a large local independent shop that I trust quoted me $2300 installed for them to rebuild mine. Jaguar was naturally triple that and many smaller shops wouldn't even touch it or had only done a few of them so I didn't want to risk using them.
Found some used ones on E-bay for around $550-$800 and was quoted another $500 to have it installed and from what they tell me, it's about a 9 hour job that involves removing the sub-frame and transfer case.
