Greasing front axle

Greasing front axle
I spoke with a mechanic who has had a lot of experience with jaguars and he told me that one problem he has seen a lot of on x-types is the front axles failing where they meet the TC. This part of the axle is splined and he recommended greasing it to increase its longevity because if it fails the entire TC will need replacement. Any thoughts on the subject or experience with greasing the axles would be appreciated.

He may be right. The inner CV boot on the front right axle is very near the exhausts and cat. If the boot fails from the heat you'll lose the grease and the CV might fail. If it vibrates it could cause the TC to fail. The solution is to make sure the CV boot is OK. I'm not sure about his comment of "greasing the axle" because what did he mean?
