Hard reboot of battery / ecu

I have three quick questions on this reset.
1. Is there a trick on how can I get my radio code before I do this?
2. I have heard that as a precaution you should put a diode or similar device to absorb the pulse. Anyone ever do this or have trouble frying their ECU?
3. If this does not work, where can I send an ECU to get rebuilt?
Thanks,
Ronk

Hi JagV8,
Was going to open up a new window after pulling my plugs, but where I have you available I will run with it.
I was forever getting lean on bank 1 and 2. Did a smoke test, fuel trim test and sprayed the whole engine down with carb, brake, either and MAF cleaner and addressed all of the air leaks i could find. Now I am still regularly getting bank 2 lean and sometimes bank 1 lean, so marginally better.
Did the 100k X type service and replaced the MAF sensor, EGR, brake booster hose and their o-rings, 4 O2 sensors, fuel and air filter, battery cables and the two large o-rings that usually leak. All in have a thousand into the cost of the car for five years use so didn't want to be bothered chasing one thing at a time. I did get O2 sensor codes in the past which is why i replaced them.
I have had the car 5 years and just hit 115k miles, so I figured I would do a new set of plugs and replace at least the upper intake gaskets while i am at it.
Any other ideas on the lean codes? Was thinking if all else checks out correct look into a new ECU if cheap enough. I do live in Florida and the car has hit a few nasty puddles and i am running out of ideas. Would be interested in any other thoughts as well.
Regards,
Ron

In the back of my mind i am wondering about the being wet, because I live in Florida. I did have the misfortune of hitting a big enough puddle that my feet actually got wet. Water pushed in from the splash around the power brake booster, but the car did not sputter, stall or die, so I am not 100 percent sure on the ECU getting damaged.
We are pulling the plugs and intake today and will report back with what we find.
As always, i look forward to your reply as well as everyone else's.
Have a great morning,
Ron
