Default Has anyone installed a short shifter? I have!

So I took a chance and bought a short shifter made for an 01-06 Mondeo online, and today I installed it in my 04 X type. Fits like it was made for it and really makes a difference! A well made shifter too. I haven't taken any pics or anything, I could though. The instructions that came with it are spot on so I didn't take any pics during the install. here's a link to the one I bought, Racing Short Shifter Ford Focus Contour Mondeo Free Knob 01 06 Strong Shaft 1 | eBay

I figured someone would be happy to know it works. The only issue I have with it is that the shift knob sits lower now, but my stock shifter felt, loose, and now it feels more tight and, mechanical, I guess you could say. I have noticed I can put it into reverse without pulling up on the lockout though. I may have put the block in wrong though.

Hey Justin, I am very interested in purchasing one of these but want to know how it looks in the interior. Can you snap a pic?

The only difference you see once its installed is the shift knob sits a little lower than stock. I don't have many pics, but here you can see the difference in height between the stock shifter and the short shifter. Pardon the mess ha.

I could care less how it looks, it feels much nicer to shift. The throw is shorter and the shifter itself feels more solid. haha...this odds works with you're pun about a mans gentlemen's region ha. You can always get various sized extensions for the shift rod that would raise the height of the shift knob if you prefer a higher knob location but still get the shorter throws and more solid feel.

I got that from redline shift boots. They made my shift boots and center arm rest cover too. Thanks to me you can now just order them without sending in the stock leathers. They can do many different looks and styles too. High quality too.
