Question Has anyone used the Amsoil synthetic oil products?

I just recently purchased a 03 X-Type 2.5L and will be doing my first oil change on it soon. Not sure when the last one was done, so better safe than sorry. I have heard some good things about the Amsoil product line and was wondering if anyone has used it in their Jag and what ya'lls thoughts and opinion are on these. They have the 6month/10,000 mile or the 12/25,000 mile oils. I am considering going with the 6month/10,000.

I think if you read your owners manual, the standard change interval is already 10K miles on standard dino oil. There's no advantage to using synthetics unless an extended change interval is taken advantage of.

You can use boutique oils like Amsoil if you want, but the cars live long and happy lives without them. Your choice.

Greetings. I hope people don't mind me bumping up an old thread, but I just joined and have something to add to this.

I've been using Amsoil in all my vehicles for many years with no issues. I had a 96 XJ6 for 3 years until it was written off in an accident, and used Amsoil's Premium Protection 10W-40 in it, Amsoil's code AMO.

AMSOIL - SAE 10W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil (AMO)

Being fully synthetic, this car never failed to start even in -25C weather, as the oil has a -44C pour point.

I changed the oil once a year since I drove less than 25,000 miles per year. I did change the stock oil filter every 6 months since Amsoil doesn't have an Ea oil filter for this model. I will be using this oil at the next oil change of my new-to-me 1996 XJR.

Different vehicle mind you, but I had 1994 GMC Yukon I bought used, and installed Amsoil's bypass filtration system. I did oil analysis once a year, and changed both full flow and bypass filter annually. I did not change the oil once in the 5 years I owned this SUV, except for top-up oil and after filter changes. Every oil analysis came back stating the oil was still OK for use.
