Headlamp assembly questions
I recently got my Jag back from the body shop. I had hit a curb and bent a few rims when we had an ice storm. I had both headlamps go out shortly after the accident before i got it fixed. I replaced both with silverstars. The left headlamp lasted about a week and went out. I just put a regular lamp in. I did notice that on both lights, I can easily move the inner lamp assembly that sits inside (that the lamp secures to). Is there a spring inside or is it made this way? I do notice my left lamp moving a bit when I hit a hard bump in the road. I am hoping not to replace the entire assembly. Thanks!

Can fix it
This post is ancient, but maybe someone can use the updated info anyway.
I just found that my leveling parts are also broken. After spending all afternoon trying to glue/epoxy them, I just had to give up and resign myself to buying new headlamp assemblies. That's when I stumbled into an eBay seller that goes by the name jaguar11986 who sells replacements for the stem portion of the levelers. All six pieces for $50. I'll post back after I receive and replace them in the hope that someone else can benefit from it.

Just did both of mine this afternoon. All but one of the contact points for the adjusters had failed.
It's a fairly straightforward job. You need to remove the plastic undertray in the front and the bumper cover to get the headlamps out. Then it's a matter of removing and disassembling them. You must separate the plastic outer lens from the housing, but other than that it's just remove the broken parts and reassemble. I put my headlamp assemblies in the oven at about 190F for 10 minutes to soften the sealant and they came apart without prying.
You'll need to readjust the aiming height after you reassemble everything.
One of the sellers of the parts recently posted a more detailed video of the process:
I also took the opportunity to refinish the plastic on the headlamps while I had them off. I was happy with the result and now have shiny headlights that stay in place!
Good luck!
