help ABS codes
i had a bad front wheel bearing so i took the x to my local guy, when they pulled everything apart the threads on the end of the half shaft where junk, they told me $700 for a new one, so i went shopping to ebay and got one from a salvage yard for $100 it arrived it was the correct part the garage had the old bearing pressed out and the new one in put everything together. i pcked it up drove 100 feet and the abs light come on drove a few miles and now the abs and engine light are on (which i read here is normal)
do i have to have the computer reset after changing the half shaft? is the sensor in the new half shaft just bad?
help the wife wants her car back and i am not sure what to do next

RE: help ABS codes
With the rear wheels the speed sensor inputs are via a cog attachedas part ofthe outer CV joint but yours is a problem with the front.
Replacing the CV joint rectifies the problem with rear wheel speed DTC codes when the "cog" has been the problem and turns off the light (if not straight away within a few drive cycles)
My ABS/Engine light came on the dash last week and it was code C1145 which is a R/F wheel speed sensor circuit fault. This is down to either a faultylink lead or a bad ABS sensor (from what I was told the fronts are different to the back as they have the speed input from inside the hub/bearing and not a seperate cog on the CV joint).
So assuming you have had theCORRECT parts (non abs and abscan look VERY similar on Fords) fitted I would put it down to either the link lead (£10) or ABS sensor (£24).
Once the ECU is not picking up the faults it should clear the warning lights within a few drive cycles.
