I might ask them to throw in the ACM and some free oil changes if they try to bump it up a little

I received this message about the 07 X-Type:

My manager will reduce the price on the Jag to $18800 plus tax and fees. He will have to see your Fusion before he can put a trade in value on that. When would be a good time for you to bring it by?

Does that include a warranty? Now counter offer with them, say $18,250 or something..

Otherwise ask them to throw in extras..

PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH them for anything and everything.. They have to give alittle too, include a warranty, go 1/2 on the warranty with you, ACM, oil changes, etc..

It cant be always you bending for them.. And it does get frustrating, one of the reasons I said FU to the dealer when they tried to jerk me on my trade a few weeks back.

I dunno. I just can't really see them throwing in the warranty and the sales price for under $18,800 for me.

Maybe I should just wait a few more weeks or something.

YES

As far as nav and Alpine, depends if you're keeping the stock radio, I have the Alpine Premium system, it's OK, but there are no additional inputs for iPod or Sirius etc so I'm contemplating replacing it, the amp makes it a bit more complicated.

I would just politely say, sorry but we're not even in the same zip code. I'll find a dealer who knows what the current market is.

You need to be aggressive, otherwise they will walk all over you.. Dont make it seem like they are doing a favor by selling you the car. You are doing THEM the favor buying the car from them.

I'm gonna get some information on this 06 VDP:

$18,995.

It's like a 2-hour drive away, one-owner, 35,700 miles.

Yeah, I'm gonna ask them for the same offer. They might be more willing if they're a smaller dealership I guess.

Esspecially the Jag dealer. In my mind, your a local to them and will likely use them for service. The cost of the warranty they will see back in warranty work in their service. Without a warranty people are more likely to take the car to "their" place. Dealers don't make money on selling cars, they make it from the relationships they build selling cars in parts, accessories and service.

Oh and just a quick search of fleabay shows this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...item19bdde3da9

Yes it is an 05 but low miles, clean history, might still have a couple months of factory warranty left on it. It looks to be a stripper model but a Garmin is cheap. The lack of heated seats might be an issue for ya, for me I could care less. There is also one in Florida that is 12900 on ebay now that looks a little more loaded but it also has 41k on the clock. Yes it is scary buying a car from far away but if you do your research, contact the dealer about a trade, etc, see if you could have a local take a look at it for ya, or ask the dealer to take it to another shop for a mechanical inspection or pay an appraser to do a condition report for it, etc it isn't too bad. I bought mine sight unseen, of course I did only have a $100 deposit on it and would have walked away in a minute if I wasn't satisfied on inspection I bought my TVR on Ebay without seeing it until it arrived via the shipper. You just need to satisfy your questions another way and it can easily be done.

So true. In my area jag dealers try and get you the extended warranty and oil changes.

So far I've been happy with my jag dealer. Fortunately in a 10 mile radius I have three! The place I bought mine is less than a mile from work and around 3 from home!

Ah but you live in DC so my 45 miles to the closest dealer would be a round trip affair for me before you even got to your closest dealer. LOL. My brother who lived near Dulles was 3 miles from work and road his bike as he could get there in 10 minutes instead of the 20 in the car. Now that he bought in Arlington I don't want to know how long it takes him to get to work. Granted only dealership visits for me thus far are to get parts only as I'm one to do maint. myself. They will only see it for electrical problems.

That's quite a hassle. A hassle that I feel I'm not ready to go through unfortunately.

and like I said, I would very much prefer a VDP or a model with the Luxury package.

IMO the Alpine is a must have feature. Don't get one without it!
