Busts out the popcorn!
Yeah, that price is incredible. Either:
1.) The guy you bought it from is an absolute moron and enjoys losing money! (Next time I'm in Chicago, I'm going to buy an e36 M3 from that guy. Who knows, maybe I can trade both my Contours straight up!!!
)
2.) It's not a select, even if not, that is still an amazing deal.
3.) Something is wrong with the car, i.e. a salvage title
4.) You're lying about it.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Seriously, though, if this guys sells the cars you mention, I'm on this. Here I come M3!!!! Maybe I can score a dinan.![Wink](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

one good guy cant undo decades of the practice.... Sorry about your luck man, but dealers have a deserved bad reputation.
I wish they were all like you, I wish they were fair and honest and I wish I felt good about spending 100 bucks an hour for them.
I am an independant engineering consultant and I have to perform at a totally different level to even come close to 100 bucks an hour. I dont mean that the guys fixing the cars dont perform, but the interface at the service counter is awful in Canada. I have a legal obligation to do technically correct work, and I am liable for anything bad that happens from my work.. EVER. The dealer here where I am charges diagnostic fees for looking at problems, then recommends to change parts. If the parts dont solve the problem, they just suggest more parts. I have had terrible luck with this... and in my profession, I would have been sued for that type of work.
Every dealer that I go to in Canada has a nice looking woman at the service desk who just bats her eyelashes and askes for you visa card. It may satisfy the needs of a 8 cylinder customer, but just not the right way to service a stick shift sport pack entry level car.
I have never left the dealer with a good feeling, that is whyI do so much myself. I leave there every time with a feeling of being robbed of my money. I mean 90 bucks for a litre of diff oil? 5 bucks for a little plastic clip? 100 bucks to slip a DVD into my nav system to perform an update? 75 bucks to activate remote global close? 20 bucks for an oil filter? 15 bucks for an oil drain plug ( with no magnet) 300 dollars for a rear CV joint? They even charged me 50 dollars to do a recall.
Please dont ask for forgiveness for the antics of your counterparts at other dealers. You are an exception.... we love u for it. Hopefully it will rub off.
I call the guys here the *******s cuz that is what they do. I ask about the most typical problems on the X-type... and they say "never heard of that - gimme your visa and book an appt for 2 weeks in the future.. " " no sorry no loaner car.. fresh out of them"
Lol

Hey Bo your a different story though! We'll make it so your the only one dubbing them as a s*********p. Anyone else whining about things have no right...FJT if you were around for all of the problems bo has had on his you'd know what he's saying. Although you've probably noticed that bo isn't a bser on here, he generally shoots it straight and I'm sure you'll understand how he feels! I know I do but I still feel that if I had his mileage I would have offed the car a while ago! He's a trooper though and still drives and fixes the car with his own coin, skin and blood! What dealer can I go to and get tires at? Sign me up!![Big Grin](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Oh yeah while were on that subject the dealer told me they'd give me a ride home Monday. I am curious though do I ever get a loaner or is that not the policy?

s far as I know, every dealer either has loaner program or rental that they pay for. Some dealers give the car even for
non warranty work. I would definitley ask for one. Do not let them give you runaround.
Bo man, sorry bout your luck. If I had been around then, I would have fixed it for you for price of flight an room & board.
I will answer any questions Bo to the best of my ability.
Didn't forget to send that Tsb either.
Off topic: Aquill I read a postsomewhere you asked how car coming along?
Well, 2001 XJVDP 44000 miles, chauffer driven car. Pulled heads let weekend.
started to rebuild it all this week alittle at a time. All thats left today is
camcovers on and bolt back up exhaust. Should be running by noon.

Sweet! I'll expect some pics of the thing on here around 1pm than! I'll be posting pics of the autoshow soon as I get back, hopefully!
Is there a specific time that they hand a loaner out or do they just give it to you if it is only going to take a couple of hours. I'm afraid they are going to take it and be like it'll be done today and than have it for a week...We'll see though! They won't have a problem that I'm under 25 for the rental, I hope, if they do decide its going to take longer than a day!

brought vdp home today. Purrs like a kitten.
Will put up some pics up as soon as I get the dent pulled out the hood.
Dealer may have problem if they pay for rental due to age,
loaner shoulder matter. Just stick it to em. They will be freaked out that you know what you know that they will
just give you loaner if only to get rid of you.
If you still got my number, call me ifthey giveyou any crap.

LOL....nothing to be scared of. Like Jim said, keep your head up. You go in there cowering, the gonna rape you.
Act confident even if you are not. Tell them what YOU want. Not the other way around. I have given you all the info you need to tell them.
The synthetic thing, don't worry about it. That is not what makes the oil pan leak. Just a **** gasket. You can put any oil in you want as long as it meets or exceeds manufacturer recommended.
You got my name and number correct in your PM. I will have been up 4 hours already by the time you get to dealership. LOL.
If you need the help call mate. No worries.
