Help please
All, Ive got a odd situation, sure could use some help. I purchased a 3.0 x type 60 k miles recently. As part of my initial inspection I noticed a tiny bit of dried antifreeze under the water pump. No noise and the car never overheated at all. I replaced the pump and belt, easiest water pump ever. The problem is that ever since the car is pumping out antifreeze from the expansion tank. At first I thought perhaps I over filled (which I didnt). It will leak coolant of of the passenger side of the tank from a small slot that is designed into the tank. It does this at NORMAL operating temp. Is this slot a designed orifice/pressure release or is the tank cracked ?
Likewise i know this is a self venting system but could this be a factor. I appreciate any and all advice.

Borpa11, from the sounds of things, you are suffering from a common failure that our cars suffer. The nipple to the overflow tank probably got hit by something and the plastic as become brittle and broken. Granted, the system pressure could be enough to break it. The fix normally is to get a new expansion tank (about $100 from some of the online dealerships). Granted, some of the members have made a more permanent fix as they see it by drilling out the nipple and gluing in a brass nipple in its place. Your call.

Borpa11, open the hood of your car. Now locate the overflow bottle. With your knees against drivers side tire, look down at the overflow bottle and picture a clock over the overflow bottle. At about the 2 o'clock position, you will see a 1/4" ID (1/2" OD) line coming into the top of the tank. This is the connection that is the offender. Look at where the black hose stops and look at the white (opaque) plastic. I bet you will find that there is a solid white line running through that nipple. That white line is the source of your leak.
