Do you think the bare wires have to do with the code readings? yes the coil plugs were disconneted on purpose when i was examining the wires. Now that i touched the wires i ran into another problem which is now the car wont start! it cranks over but no ignition/spark.

Alex: The insulation on those bare coil wires has been cooked, literally, likely by an overly hot catalytic converter directly below (between the engine and radiator). Those bare wires probably touched and shorted out one of more fuses.
Don't replace the blown fuse(s) until you replace or repair the bad wires. The new fuse will just short out again.
Before repairing the bare wires, look around and above both catalytic converters for more heat damage. The other catalytic converter is between the engine and firewall. It may be best to replace the entire engine wiring harness. Recycler's sell them on eBay, or PM a forum member named Dr dome, who parts out X-Types.
Before you invest too much time and $'s, consider that the overly hot catalytic converter may be damaged internally and need to replaced, and whatever caused the converter to overheat may still be a problem to be fixed.
