help please strange headlights
Hi I hope someone can help or offer advice. I have replaced my headlights and main beam via a large uk chain who fit the bulbs. I am now left with when driving a black box, in the middle of the road with a red tint this was not on before having bulbs changed. It is the centre of the road when lights on but if you look head on at bulbs they look fine

Double check your type numbers on the bulbs. If you still have the old ones compare them to the new. They should look very similar if not the same as your old ones. Make sure you have the lamp sockets inserted all the way in the headlights and locked into place. Make sure the headlights are aimed correctly. The aiming adjustments on the Xtype headlights have a propensity for breaking. You may have dislodged the headlights and gotten them off aim.

I was assuming in all this that you have halogen bulbs like we do. If you have HID high intensity discharge bulbs there might be other differences I don't see over here.
Also, I'm surprised the mods have not pinched you on this. Go to the new member threads and introduce yourself and your car to the group. Welcome.

Is it possible that the headlight mounts are broken? This is a common
problem with the X-type. To check find a deserted road at night.
Cover one headlight with a heavy cloth. Does the beam pattern
on the road seem resonable for both high and low beam?
When one or both of the mount points break the direction of the
beam will be way off. The parts that break are internal and do not
effect the external lens that you can touch. If you take off the
covers on the back of the light you can try to move the internal
structure. If it moves, you have broken adjusters.
