Help w/ the cooling fan assembly - module and fan 05 x-type
My employee is borrowing my car and I need to order for it but I'm lost. I ordered a fan from auto zone and it wasn't right. The mechanic says we need the complete fan assembly with the fan and computer module. Can someone point me in the right direction because I don't know what I'm looking for. Is this it?

I tried asking the mechanic but he's an extra special breed.

From Jaguar, the fan and controller come as an assembly only. The controller is what typically fails, and the listing you have is the revised version of the controller that is better. There was an earlier style controller, and this kit includes the pigtails to adapt the wiring harness to the early style.
The problem is the fan surround frame is a some sort of plastic/fiberglass hybrid that is fairly brittle. There are metal inserts moulded into the plastic, which the bolts that hold the module screw into. Naturally, the bolts threads face forward so they get all the water/salt etc thrown up from the road and corrode. When I have tried taking out the bolts usually the threaded insert breaks out of the plastic instead of unscrewing. Then you have no way to attach the new controller, except with zip ties. Which works, but isn't ideal.
I have a Rockauto discount code 164064730123292460, good until April 4 2021. Put it in the "how did you hear about us" box at checkout. It's good for an extra 5% off.

Short answer is yes, that's the cooling fan control module for 2004+ & later models. If you have a 2004+ or later model, Rock Auto also sell a module without the "conversion" wiring for earlier models (pre 2004+).I replaced mine last year with one I purchased from member dr dome who parts out X's. Tight fit to get to the bolts, cuts to prove it, but can be done without too much struggle. There's a thread under my name on replacing mine if interested.
