Help! What is this?
I need some help identifying the latest issue with my 09 2.0 diesel x type estate.
By the look of the red and black terminal that is connected to what I am presuming is a grounding nut. The plastic terminal appears to have over heated and it's all basically fallen apart. The copper wire has mostly turned green from corrosion. There was a copper open barrel lug with 5 5-10 12-10 on the back of it.
I want to try and replace it out, however I've got no clue what it is and therefor can't attempt to get replacement parts
.
Has anyone got any idea what this is please?

That looks like a 10 or 12 mm diameter ring connector on a 5 or 6mm bolt. That is not a factory connection, someone added that. Badly.
Is the bolt or stud that the 2 wires connect on attached to the engine or was it attached to that melty plastic bit in the last picture? It could be the plastic bit is just an insulator to prevent those wires from being grounded?

I've been searching all evening and it looks like it is the glow plug link harness. Or words to that affect. It looks like the red cable runs up through the melted plastic at at some point a garage cut it out the plastic and grounded it to an earth point on the car and linked it to the black cable.
I can't seem to find the part new anywhere so I guess it's going to be a used Ebay job.
Nightmare, every time I open the bonnet I find something else is broken. I found this little doozy when trying to fix a slow leak on the power steering pressure pipe. I'm hoping some stop leak should sort that out because it's not a dripping leak, very slow. Fingers crossed I fix that and find some replacement harness for this glow plug situation. Smh
