Help!X-Type Electrical Mystery
2005 X-type sport with 53,000 Miles, bought in Portland, OR
Check Engine light came on and threw it into gear box fault. Jaguar Shop had it for 5 hours checked all electrical and said they were going to have to start replacing parts and see what happens. It has aftermarket GPS and the factory amp has been bypassed and power ran direct from fuse box. 2 months after GPS went in issue started happening. Now GPS isn't tied into the car at all except at the fuse box. Throttle body has been cleaned with dry rag.
Clear codes and start car P1642 come up after car idles really low.
Have a new gauge cluster coming in tomorrow, first thing tomorrow!
Codes
1) P1638
P1637
2) P1642
3) P1796
4) P1797
5) P1000
6) P1796
7) P1797
P1637 Can Link ECM/ABSCM Circuit / Network Malfunction
P1638 Can Link ECM/INSTM Circuit / Network Malfunction
P1642 Fuel Pump Monitor Circuit High Input
P1796 Kick Down Switch Circuit Malfunction
P1797 Neutral Switch Circuit Malfunction
New symptom flashing red light on center console!

That's just backing up what the codes are telling you, the CAN network is down for some reason and cannot do the key transponder validation. I'd suggest checking all the fuses and substituting relays to start with, especially those in the engine bay relay box.
Good luck!

pdxguy, I am going off of memory here, so, I may not be 100% correct, but based on the codes that you are getting, it is sounding like your tranny computer (TCM) either has a loose plug on it or the computer is starting to go. The CAN network runs through the TCM on its way between the ECM and the ACCM. That would give you what you are seeing. The P1000 code is simply saying that you got another code before it could clear the last one.
I would start with replacing the fuse for the TCM. After that, I would probably recommend taking it to a tranny shop and seeing if they can put the tranny on a computer and see what the computer is doing. If the computer is getting a low voltage (from a high resistance in a wire or the computer starting to fail), it can cause the computer to start doing some strange things.
