Jagman, please keep in mind that the headlight housing for the factory HID headlights and the standard headlights are two different things. So, if the person upgraded to the factory HID housings, then yes, that would fix the broken bracket inside of the headlight. If you are talking about simply getting an aftermarket set of HID bulbs and installing them, then no, that will not fix your bracket issue.

As for getting a new headlight first, it really depends on how much you are wanting to spend and how long you are wanting the fix to be. Normally a little bit of epoxy will fix the mounts in a broken headlight. But, depending on how you do it, the repair may only have a short life. Where, going with a new headlight assembly, the repair will be a more permanent thing, but the cost is significantly more. If you are looking at getting a used one (especially if you are looking at e-bay), I would write/talk to the person and ask them specifically if the brackets for the headlight assembly are broken. The brackets breaking is a common problem and there are a lot of headlights for the X-Types that are for sale that have broken internals.
