Default High-beam Headlight Issues - Moisture?

Hello -

2006 3.0 with original HID headlights...

Getting LOTS of rain here in California. After driving through a very large puddle last night - I noticed that my high-beam headlights stopped working...
After an overnight in a dry garage - everything works fine this morning.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming that there's something electrical getting wet that is causing the problem?

Thanks!!

kevin, if both of your high beams went out at the same time, then odds are, you have an issue with your high beam relay. So, you either get water inside the fuse box and that cause relay R1 to have issues or the GEM module got wet and it didn't let the high beam signal pass. The question then is "did the high beam indicator come on?". If yes, then your problem is relay R1. If no, odds are, GEM module. It could be the turn signal stalk as that has been known to cause issues. But ,I have heard of issues with water getting into the GEM module.

Thanks, Thermo... To answer your question, yes, the high beam indicator comes on normally.. However, I just noticed that the turn signal stalk won't lock the high beams on. They will come on if I depress the stalk, but it won't lock. So, maybe its the stem and the rain was just a coincidence...?

Kevin, look at this as 2 separate issues until you prove it is only one. Replace the turn signal stalk (fairly easy to do). then see what you have at that point. If you are getting water inside the headlights, I would be looking at the back covers. But, I would be expecting to see water in both lenses on a side, not just one.
