RE: hmm....questions..
Squeak is probably the parking brake cables. easy to fix.. justa smear of grease in the right place where the cable goes through a hole in a bracket.
smell needs to be described more.. there are plenty of hot things under the car, and when you go through deep snow, things do get hotter.
also snow under the car melts and can wash a little oil onto something hot.
can you describe the smell more.. or pinpoint where it is coming from?

here is where you need to take your finger and smear a little grease around the parking brake cable. It is under the car, (both sides) just ahead of the rear wheel. About where the back edge of therear door closes. Takes just a few seconds.. let us know if it works.

I know what smell you are speaking of. I don't think I'd worry about it. As long as your talking about deeper snow? All cars have small smells and when those smells can't escape from the car because of the snow they are a little more apparent. They can't escape everywhere from underneath the car because the snow traps it. Does it do it all the time or only when you get stuck kind of?

Every vehicle does this. If you've ever noticed if you don't have the a/c on with the defrost on in the jag, the fog isn't removed from the window. The a/c has to be on to send some good clean non humid air at the window! If you turn on the defrost and floor on you can shut the a/c off so it doesn't use any extra fuel.
