Default Hood insulator.

Hi guys. I'm noticing recently that the hood insulator is like falling, touching the intake manifold and is leaving a black mark that I don't like. I was doing my search and I found the insulator pad or hood insulator in Ebay but, is for X type from 06-08, part number C2S44059. Mine is a 03. I don't know if that fit in my hood or not, maybe in those year the hood have a diferente shape, really don't know. So please if anyone of you know if I can buy that part, if it fits in my car, please let me know. If not, where I can buy that insulator? I'm being searching and I can't find it. Thanks.

The hoods are all the same so I can't see it not fitting. Mine was falling down when I got the car, so I just took it off. Haven't had a problem, and its been like 3 years.

Looks to be a bit less expensive at SNG.

Thank you guys. I checked at SNG Barrett and you are right Bud Tender, is $95. So I'm going to buy it from there.
Thanks for your advice Justink201, but I don't think I can do that down here in Miami, I don't know where you live, but here is to hot, if I take the insulator out, I'll be painting my hood in 3 months.
But why that part is described as 2006-2008 hood insulator and not all the years if the hood is the same?

Isn't the insulator to stop a fire spreading when your engine bay catches fire? The outer layer burns away and the black dust material falls onto the fire effectively putting it out?

I have had no insulator in the hood since buying the car in Texas 2 years ago and been running it constantly with no paint pealing issues on the hood in temps from 20f - 100+f.

To be honest, i was looking to replace it , but now don't think I will. There are also aftermarket squares that you can purchase for a pittance and cut to shape and clip back onto the hood which will do exactly the same job.

my .02 worth.

Danomar: I assume your X-Type uses gasoline, not diesel. The EPC says Jaguar repositioned the retaining clips on the hood liner after VIN # D42150.

Prior to VIN D42150, the compatible hood liner p/n's are C2S12530 & C2S30508. After VIN D42150, the p/n's are C2S31395 or C2S41242 or C2S44059.

I don't know what's involved to modify the "wrong" hood liner. Could be a simple as repositioning the clips, or could be more involved. Someone here will know.

I lived in Tampa bay, and now I'm in new Mexico, been here a few months now, still no problems in constant 100+ degree weather.

Well guys, thanks for your advices. I ordered the insulator pad from SNG Barrett but they called and told me (and they were right) to ordered from my local Jaguar Dealership because from New Hampshire to Miami, something can happen and receive it in bad shape or broken. So I ordered and just picked up my new insulator pad , part #C2S44059 ( from vin D42150 and up) at Collection Jaguar and I'm going to install it this weekend. I think that part # replace all others prior parts, just have to reposition the clips like dwclapp said.
I respect everybody decisions and ways to keep your cars but I think if we have a Jaguar, we have to keep it the best we can and very nice looking, inside and outside, do the best we can. Is not just a car, is a Jaguar. And I love my cat. Thanks for your help guys.

That myth has been around since the '70s. The sole purpose of the insulation is for noise reduction.

On my 65 GTO, it was to keep the center carb from burning the paint off the hood, when I no longer used the factory progressive linkage, when Drag Racing.....Be cool....Mike...LOL
