Pop the hood and remove the large tan rubber nut that holds the housing in. Pull out the housing completely, so your hood has just the one big and (from what I remember, one small hole). And get familiar with how the housing holds the emblem in place. Just reading this post can be confusing unless you understand how the emblem is held in place.

Basically, all the chrome pieces hold the emblem in place, and the rubber nut under the hood holds the housing in place.

Cut out the metal wire from the emblem you have. Go the harware store and find a similar metal wire (so you can have a longer piece to hold onto), that is thin enough to go through the hole under the emblem and through the square hole at the top of the housing so that kitty sits in place nicely. Buy asmall spring and a metal spacer thin and long enough to fit in the bottom cyclinder portion of the housing. A "metal spacer" is just a small hollow cylinder. You want your spacer to be longer than the cylinder at the bottom of the housing, because you will endup hitting it with a hammer to secure into place and need room tostrike and a wire long enough to have someone else pull on.

Take the emblem and chrome housing to the store with you to test fit. Threadthe emblem, pull wires throughtop of housing and have kitty sit in place. Slide wires through new spring, then slidethrough the spacer. The spring should catch on theedge of the spacer and push up on the emblem from inside the housing. Have a friend hold the wire and pull while you hold the spacer (this will cause the spring to contract). So your fingers will be holding the spacer right where the bottom of the housing cyclinderis. And with a hammer smash the end of the spacer opposite the spring, try not to crush your fingers. Then just cut of access wire. Now that pussywill stay home, because she can't run off with someone else. Good luck!
