Hourly Jag Dealer Service rate in your area?
I've seen two rates so far in my X-Type's life - $120/hr in Eastern Canada and $135/hr in Western Canada. That got me thinking - what kind of range is there and where is the highest and lowest Jag Service rates? What have you paid your local Jag Dealer per hour?

My local dealer is £115 + VAT / hr
As VAT is 17.5% that works out at £135.13 / hr
Thats US$211.90 at todays rates!
You think thats expensive you should see how we have our eyes taken out for petrol at the equivalent of $1.81 per litre.
Think I'll move to the US where everything is so much cheaper!

Dealer $122
Independent $90-$100
how much to you really save? Dealer you get factory backing, factory trained techs, and dealers always have better service, loaners, free car wash, drop offs, pick up your car from home or work. there alot more to it them just labor rate.

Better service than dealers too.The one I use are dealer and Jaguar trained and have all the facilities of the dealers including all the special tools, software, they even repair cars rather than farming that out to poor bodyshops like my local dealer and possible many more dealers here do.They have a better stock of parts than the dealer (dealer didnt have rear lower control arm for my X type) specialist did as they said it was a common item. Also because they bought the arms in bulk beofre the price increase they were cheaper to supply only the part)It took their subcontracted bodyshop 3 goes to get the A Pillar repaired correctly on my car.Apart from incorrectly diagnosing the cause of the A pillar repair and method to repair they said they didnt need to remove the screen to repair it which they had to do in the end.Car came back with an annoying rattle which wasnt there nbefore the screen and trim was removed and is still there but they insist its not down to them.
Dealers tend to just do whats specifically on the maintenence sheets (so they will check pad thickness with a mirror rather than take the wheels off) independant I use removes wheels, grease hubs (again dealers dont).
Dealer said the man from Jaguar who is repsonsible for audio was going to at their dealership the other Friday (I complained my subs were only a dull thud) and they would see him and ring me with regard to replacing under warranty.Still havent heard a dickybird even though I was promised they would get nack to me before before my warranty ran out (which it did last week).
If my dealer was as cheap labour wise (instead of the $211/hr) as the specialist I use (<$55/hr) I would still use the specialist

Dont worry, we pay high income tax and also National Insurance contributions every week straight out of our pay packets to (try to fund) it.
On top of that we pay road tax and (not much of ) the money goes back onto the roads, we pay high fuel tax (highest in the world I believe?) again lining the governments pockets. We have speed cameras everywhere in the country again lining the pockets of the powers that be claiming it is for safety (yet in County Durham we are the only county in the country that doesnt have fixed speed cameras and yet have the best road safety stats in the country I believe)...get caught and your car insurance increases for 5 years and you get points on your licence for at least 4 years.
Now what time is that next flight?

By universal health care I take it you mean National Health Service?

BuckMR2 - you may want to check out immigrating to Canada if you can handle the snow. In Alberta we're paying 96 cents a litre, registration is a flat 55 or 60 bucks a year, no matter what you drive, insurance is private, unlike other provinces, and although we have fixed speed cameras, they are only at intersections attached to the red light camera. There are mobile cameras and police but this country, heck the province is way to big to monitor like Gov of England does. So we have some freedom. Health care is paid for by the general tax pool, but as in England they struggle to meet demand while trying to cut costs. And Canada loves the Brits, we have alot of your old policemen here, they find their job alot easier over here, not sure why - less social anger perhaps. I'm waiting for the general uprising in Britain like we saw in the movie 'V'...
