RE: How do X-types vary in price by location?
Edmunds or KBB seem slightly high. However they are a good guide to the variation in price between areas. The internet levels things out though.
One thing I failed to think about - in Michigan we don't have a front number plate, and I bought the car on ebay from Illinois - a state that does. So I had to fix that issue.

How's the whole ebay car buying environment? What are the specs on your car. Mine's a 2002 3.0 sport with aftermarket konig 17's (rather have stock aguilla's though) light gray leather, sunroof, single cd and I paid 14,500 with 53,993 miles on her. Car in good condition but not spotless.

we have 2 in the family via ebay.
2004 2.5 manual, sunroof, heated seats, full wood kit, 75k factory warranty, 23,000 miles, $16.5
2003 2.5 auto, heated seats, xenons, parking assist, 100k factory warranty, 33,000 miles, $14k
both were immaculate

My ebay purchase was a month ago - July 2004 car (2004.5MY), heated seats and the reverse sensors/trip/10 way memory seat bundle, absolutely immaculate, 9800 miles, $21800 from a Jaguar dealer with full certification and warranty.
I've noticed that there are several ex-rental cars on ebay (I even saw one photo with the Hertz keyfob still attached) - check who owned it before you bid.

How did you get anyone to give away that car to you Baz? I tried talking to a mr. keith burch up at jag of troy and be couldn't come any further down on his x-types beyond 19,500! You got a steal of a deal. I even tried getting 2 different 03 black sports and they wouldn't even help me out on the price for around 18,000. I'm happy with mine though!

I am from NH and suprisingly we do have a JAG dealer. nothing much under 18,000 for an older one. I ended up purchasing a 2002 with 64,000 for $15,800. It's a manual 3.0 with navigation and all the other goodies including Jaguar racing green The only other must have that I wanted but didn't get was the heated seats which I reall really want!) I looked long and hard for a manual 3.0 since I wanted the bigger motor. I finally found this one and it had navigation and it was the right color so I gave up on finding one with heated seats.
Oh-well I still love it!
