I bought my 2002 X Type 3.0 a year ago with 105,000 miles I will admit it needed mechanical work check engine light went on right away as well as the cruise control was disabled...but I lucked out, I baby'd the hell out of it and I did a overhaul on the engine and i don't ever abuse it..now it has 114,500 and its running strong as ever no check engine light and cruise control works..I love my car

Currently ~74k on my '05 3.0 auto. Just having rear brakes and left front wheel bearing replaced.
Heard from the dealer yesterday who told me that there was problem with the wheel bearing that they couldn't get it loose and would have to replace it along with some part of the suspension. I haven't seen an exploded diagram of the end of the suspension. Does anyone have an idea what they seem to be talking about?
Oh, ~$450 for the bearing and ~$700 for the mystery part, but my warranty is going to cover it... :-)

I have 138,000 on my XJ8. Bought it almost a year ago. Putting it in the shop this morning to see what is causing the engine "failsafe" message that cancels my cruise control. Otherwise it runs perfectly. I'm going to need to find rims, as the chrome is pealing a bit, & often a tire begins to lose air. But nothing drastic. I love driving my "Cat". Bob

Was at a Concours d'Elegance on Saturday (took third place in the Driven class, thank you very much... ;-) and noticed someone with at '03 X-Type was entered in the Champion Class. Talked with the fellow and found that he was the original owner and that the car had 215,000 miles on it. He said that he had had no failures and had never changed his ATF nor done anything about the transfer case lubricant.
And the car was PERFECT.
Wow...
