Replaced:
Thermostat twice. 1st by dealer $396. 2nd time I bought Amazon part $18. Friend installed it for $60.
2 Oxygen sensors $390 parts dealer. Labor $80.
alternator twice. 1st one by mechanic $500. 2nd time bought part & had friend install it total cost $146 part labor $150
Battery twice. 1st one by mechanic $300. 2nd DIY Walmart battery $129 DIY.
water pump $35 cardone remanuf. labor $0!DIY
3 Coolant hoses $128 dealer part labor $0 DIY
Brake master cylinder Cardone remanuf. $110, labor $150
Remodified headlights. $12 DIY
Coolant flush twice - 1st by dealer $159. 2nd time I did it antifreeze $27.
Coolant reservoir. $130 dealer DIY
Breather hose. $24 DIY
Serpentine belt twice - 1st by mechanic $100. 2nd time by friend $50.
Intake manifold O-rings. $12 DIY
3rd set of tires. $1100
Going to change battery cables, spark plugs, throttle body seal, upper manifold seals.
Problems to diagnose - backup sensor not working. Slight oil leak.

, perhaps something to do with fact that 75k were covered in 27 months, maybe? Looking at service history all is in place.

update
The only thing that has changed since I first ported is the miles driven, now at 131754.
Still have the car, the bank account is solvent, and the marriage is still in tack.
BTW Price of gas is up by $0.20!

Bit of a nerd, started a spreadsheet when I bought the 02 in August of 06 with 66K, put 20k on it in less than a year.
Replaced trans, added a Homelink console, EBC brakes and rotors. I average 150-160K on cars before replacing. It's a race to see which will go another 4 years, the car, my bank account, my marriage?

X Types in the USA
Just reading through this thread, there seems to be a common theme here and I'm curious why.
In the UK a used X Type with less than 50K miles on it would be considered as good as new. Guys are happy to buy them with 100K miles because they go on forever.
US based posts are proud that their car has achieved 65K miles ???
There is a post that states he had a new engine at 75K. That is almost unheard of here in the UK.
Because of the larger country of US, it would be expected for a car to travel further so that a high mileage car in the US might be younger (newer) than a car driven in our small township of the UK.
I've got a 2008 2.2TDi which has covered 75K miles, that is deemed below average mileage for its year and its as sweet as a nut. OK the EGR valve was coked up and needed cleaning but that's a £3 tin of carburettor cleaning fluid.
Why are our Jags dying so early in the US ?

I work for Jaguar. If you have any Engineering comments that would improve the vehicles for life in the US I would happy to pass them on to our engineering department.
The X type is no longer produced but the old X Type Estate is due to be replaced by the XF Estate.
Rumour has it that there will soon be a Jaguar SUV too,

Unusual to need a new engine, especially a diesel, at 75K. My 2.2TDi had Dual Mass flywheel changed at 50K, they usually last to about 100K. Depends how they are used I suppose.
