How to remove A-pillars on 2004 X-type?

limabean, first, you will need to remove the rubber door seal from around the front doors. Next, remove the plastic trim piece at the top of the door (connects the A pillar and B pillar trim pieces). Now, if you look at the A-pillar pieces, there are 3 slits in the plastic, you will need to slide a flat bladed screw driver (or other wide, flat bladed object) into the holes and then release the tab that is in there. With the blade installed, gently pull out on the plastic trim some to keep the hidden tab from re-engaging. Move on to the next hole and repeat until all 3 holes have been released.
Installing is doing what was mentioned above in reverse except you don't need to install the blade to release the tabs.
