Post How To: Replacing interior lights with LEDs HOW TO

I've had a few private messages with people asking me how to change the interior lights to LED's so I figured that I would provide everyone with the information needed as to what bulbs need purchased.
All bulbs are from LED Lights & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS

Bulb info:
194 bulbs will be "WLED-x"
Festoon bulbs will be "4410-x9"
Map light will be "WLED-xHP15-TAC"

Bulbs needed:
Front dome light -
- Requires two 194 bulbs
- Requires one Festoon

Rear dome light -
- Requires one Festoon

Flip down visor (1) -
- Searching for proper bulb

Footwells -
- One 194 bulb

Boot Light -
- One Festoon

Map light - (I haven't changed my map light, so I have no pictures of this yet)
- One WLED-xHP15-TAC

Instructions:
Replacing the dome light are pretty simple. First off though, being gentle is KEY. If you want to attempt using your fingers, just push up against the headliner and try and squeeze your fingers under the dome light frame. Then you just slowly take your fingers all the way around the frame and pop it out of the headliner, make sure you disconnect the cables before changing the lights.

Pictures of front dome -

The rear dome light is very simple to pop off, just push up on the headliner, and pull the clear piece out.

Removing the rear dome-

The visors are easier than meets the eye, I will post pictures when I am able to do so of these, I do not have the proper bulbs to change mine at this time though.

The footwells are without a doubt, the SIMPLEST to replace. Just twist the light holder and pop the light out, put the new one in, twist the holder back into place and you're good to go.

Easy as pie-

The Boot light is a bit easy as well, but it took me a few minutes to get into it because I had to pop one of those black things off to pull the liner back to reach the light. But once you can see the bulb, it's just as simple as disconnecting the cable and swapping lights.

A bit more difficult -

F.A.Q.

Q - "How many festoons and 194's do I need in total to completely swap all the lights?"
A - You will need 4 festoons for the flip down mirrors, 1 for the front dome, 1 for the rear dome, and 1 for the boot. You will need 2 194 bulbs for the foot wells, 2 for the front dome, and 1 for the glove box. This makes a total of 7 festoons and 5 194 bulbs.

Just have to size them down, D3000 prefers to take pictures at a HUGE resolution.

I was planing on using THESE leds for the license plate, and foot lights. Do I use the same exact same lights for the dome light in the front? I wasn't sure about the beam angle.

Yes sir, those will most certainly work. I'm not sure if they will fit in the dome or not, but you can try it if you want, they're not too expensive. Those are actually the ones I have for my license plate light, they shine bright, like the license plate lights go over my rear bumper :P

Or do you think I should go with one like THIS for the dome light. ( I promise this is my last question)

Those are the ones I used, they're not as bright, but they still illuminate quite a bit.

It's not much of a risk, you really don't risk breaking anything unless you are ignorant and not very steady with your movements. I mean you don't have to be like brain surgery steady, but you know, just a genuine careful. :P

Note to the thread viewers, I made a minor mistake as to the visors/flip down mirrors bulbs, the bulbs that I posted are too big, and I will have to find a different bulb for this. Sorry for any inconveniences.

cool info. i used LED strips on the foot wells and in the trunk and hood area to get even more light. they do have to be wired in though. you can use the same LEDs on your map lights as you use on license plate lights.

Quick question, for the map light you say we need a WLED-xHP15-TAC bulb, but aren't we putting in 2 WLED-x in there(the 2 for the front dome, which I'm assuming are the map lights)? Unless there is another map light I'm not aware of.

I always thought that the orange light that came on during the night was called the map light. Maybe you're right. But the two WLED-x are going in the dome light, yes.

One more thing, did you get 90 or 120 degree beams?

Make sure your very careful with the dome light! Use gloves if you can because i just installed my LED's and the plastic was like a razor blade on my fingers.

I got the 120 degree bulbs, and yeah the plastic is pretty sharp, gloves aren't necessary but if you want then its all good

There are no LED's availble in that exact size, I found some close which needed a little work to get them in;

TS-14V1CP F30-WHP 6614F 3-SMD LED Vanity Lights | Sun Visor LED

To fit them I had to bend the copper tabs that hold the original bulbs, at right angles, just the tip, so they grab the ends of the LED which have slight indentations in them.
