Insurance difference on 3.0's
Alright I'm considering getting an X-type soon and was wondering if insurance companies would want more to insure the 3.0 rather than the 2.5. I know on a few cars I've seen that have higher horsepower versions but the same amount of cylinders, the insurance companies didn't seem to care.

I'd say since they are both v6 I'm not sure it will matter, but I'm not an insurance guy either. I'd say they would be similar. I'm 22 and I've been paying just under 100 dollars here in michigan for my 02 3.0 xtype sport. Insurance here in michigan is high because we have no-fault insurance. I thought the insurance would suck but it wasn't too bad considering the car is still blue booking near 20k.

RE: Insurance difference on 3.0's
full coverage, including uninsured motorist coverage,$100 towing allowance, roadside assistance, $425 a year with american family insurance in ohio. of course i do have 2 cars, motorcycle, home owners and coverage for a rental property i own as well. surprisingly, it is $20 more per year than i was paying on my previous car, a 2001 suzuki grand vitara (suv, 2.6 v6 in it as well). go figure.

Man, I'm salivating over the opportunity to pay that much for a WHOLE year. I pay $1500 bucks for two cars, both full coverage with a $100 deductible, roadside, towing, rental, and ofcourse two drivers. I do have an at fault accident 2 years ago, AND OH YEAH, I LIVE IN MIAMI!

I pay just under a 100 a month just for my jag as my alternate vehicle (second non-primary). Thats through state farm and I have nothing on my record. Insurance here in Michigan blows though. My wifes brother would have been charged between 250 and 300 per month to lease a 2006 jeep grand cherokee and is now paying $86 a month for the lease in wisconsin. Michigan has no-fault insurance which jacked insurance rates up. I'm also 22 years old which makes the insurance higher but I think I have a good rate considering my age and the car. With my ford escape and renters insurance i pay 216 a month total every month. Both cars have full coverage. I was paying 98.75 a month for my 1996 honda 900rr(its a sport bike) to insure with full coverage. State farm applies a multi car discount, a good student discount and a better rate due to the amount of security in the vehicle i.e. air bags and the security system the car supposedly has!

Wonderin how that compares with my insurance ( the wifes) on the X?
She's 37 ......on a 2.5V6 Sport model with 8 years no claims discount protected at £359.00.....thats me on the policy too and both of us have 2 speeding convictions 3 points apiece.

Per month at £359/$704.21? My insurance will be high because I'm not over 25 years old. I looked into renting a car in Oregon for this summer when we visit relatives and they wanted just as much for the fee or warranty they require just to cover me being under 25.
