Default Intermittent Gear Box Fault error

Hi All,
I am owning my Jaguar X-type 2009 model since 2014. It never put me in any awkward situation, such a reliable car. However since last year June it started giving intermittent GearBox Fault error with a spiral sign on the dashboard screen and orange light with error Gearbox Fault.
I asked for AA breakdown support, through testing mechanic said there is no issue with the greabox, reset the error and indicated it could be because of EGR valve. So put a plate. But problem continues, then next time they escorted me to a nearby Garage (as not everyone works with engine/gearbox). Following the guidance of the AA expert, they changed the EGR Valve. Problem remains.
In Oct'22 Car passed MOT without any issue.
I had to go for a new car, but I couldn't sale or discontinue this car, because when it works it's pleasure driving.
I have noticed whenever this error appears , it slows down the auto acceleration and if I get into reverse gear it creates serious issue, lot of jerk, you will have press the accelerator hard to move the car, which is really risky.
Anyone have any idea what could be the root cause behind this issue and how this can be solved.
Again yesterday car passed the MOT, yes I had to spend a good amount of money to change the rear break disk + pad.
People might think what sort crazy mindset it is, but to me this car served me for almost 9 years as a trusted friend, I simply can't disown it as we can't disown our family member, friends when they have some disease.
Any guidance and help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Roy

I have a 2.2diesel which occasionally shows the same fault, the quick fix which lasts about 8 months is to remove the hose into the turbo at the back of the engine and spray in some EGR cleaner onto the turbo vanes, spray a little and wait for the revs to settle, then repeat half a dozen times. Refit the hose and limp mode disappears. Probably takes me half hour at the most. Message disappears without needing a scanner to turn it off. Search you tube if unsure. Good luck.

EGR cleaner comes with the same tiny 'straw' that wd40 comes with, don't put it too far into the aperture, just inside is fine.

I trust the vehicle's battery is in good nick as many random instrument cluster warnings and DTCs are the result of a failing or weak battery.

Use a voltmeter across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position for at least an hour to read the available voltage. There should be a minimum of 12.6 volts showing on the voltmeter.
